Exhibition “Collectio Latomorum Bibliothecae Universitatis Posnaniensis. The most valuable prints, regalia and masonic utensils”.

 November 16, 2021 – January10, 2022, 18 February – 31 March, 2022

The present exhibition has been expanded in scope to encompass new subject areas added to those already presented in the exhibition organised by Andrzej Karpowicz, the driving force in the creation of the Masonic section in the University Library in Poznań, in 1996 and the exhibition prepared by Iuliana Grażyńska in 2014. Freemasonry, as an elitist social and ethical movement has produced a substantial literary output, in particular works on philosophy, social thought, the arts and the history of Freemasonry. The Poznań collection includes about 80,000 Masonic volumes that come from a number of Freemasonic lodges in Europe seized and impounded by the Nazis between 1933 and1935 and amassed in the so-called Fach-Bibliothek of the SS Reichsführer Heinrich Himmler.
