Using University Library during the pandemic and Covid 19 restrictions. 

Circulation Department and Check-Out Counter

1. In the Circulation Department area users are expected to keep space distance (at least 1.5 meters). According to the regulations in force, no more than 31 persons are permitted at a time (including 22 persons in the open access area).

2. Strict sanitary safety precautions should be followed: face masks are required and must be worn completely covering the nose and mouth at all times. When entering the library or approaching library assistants, the hands should be disinfected with disinfectant or hand sanitiser.

3. Library registration or activation of the library account can be done online using Konto czytelnika (Reader’s Account). All payments should be done electronically.

4. Before placing your book request please check the status of your Reader’s account (Konto czytelnika). The account should be active (i.e. should have been activated this academic year, with no due fines, as it is outlined in the Rules and regulations for the Adam Mickiewicz University library system: http://lib.amu.edu.pl/rules-and-regulations/?lang=en.

5. Registered readers who have not yet settled their financial obligations, including fines for overdue books, imposed before March 12, 2020 are asked to make due payments electronically or with the card at the library.

6. Library users who cannot return library materials in person due to the epidemic are asked to arrange for them to be returned by somebody authorised, or alternatively to send them back by post to the following address:

with the accompanying note:”Wypożyczalnia Miejscowa”.

The day of collection at the Circulation Desk will be considered the date of return of the library materials.

7. From July 13, 2021 fines for overdue library materials will be reinstated. In compliance with the List of fees and charges at the University Library – overdue recalled books incur a fine of 0.30 zł/day per item. 

Inter-library Loans

1. Requests will be processed depending on the availability of the materials and operation of other libraries home and abroad.
2. After obtaining information about the availability of ordered publications in the Humanities Reading Room, the reader makes a reservation by e-mail (address: czyt@amu.edu.pl) or by phone (tel.:61 829 3854 or 3817).

Reading Rooms

1. Users are asked to book a seat in the reading rooms beforehand. This can be done either via email or by phone:

a. The Humanities Reading Room: czyt@amu.edu.pl, tel.61 829 3854 or 3817;
b. Researchers’ Reading Room: czyt@amu.edu.pl, tel.61 829 3854 or 3817;
c. Social Sciences Reading Room: czyt@amu.edu.pl, tel. 61 829 3853 or 3817;
d. Nova Reading Room: komiksywbibliotece@gmail.com, tel. 61 829 3848;
e. Special Collections Reading Room: tel. 61 829 3828, or after a consultation with staff members of respective Sections of the Special Collections Department.

2. Before placing your book request please check the status of your Reader’s account (Konto czytelnika). The account should be active (i.e. should have been activated this academic year, with no due fines as it is outlined in the Rules and regulations for the Adam Mickiewicz University library system: http://lib.amu.edu.pl/rules-and-regulations/?lang=en/).
3. After entering, readers are obliged to comply with the rules and regulations and social distancing measures should be kept (at least 1.5 meters) and sanitary precautions should be observed: the nose and mouths should be covered.
4. Reduced capacity of seats applies:

a. The Humanities Reading Room – 22 persons,
b. Researchers’ reading Room – 9 persons,
c. Social Sciences Reading Room – 21 persons,
d. Nova Reading Room – 15 persons,
e. Special Collections Reading Room – 9 persons.

5. After entering the reading rooms, users are required to disinfect their hands and show their library card to the library attendant. Readers who do not disinfect their hands will not be able to use library materials from the stacks or from reference collections in the reading rooms.
6. While using library materials in the seat indicated face coverings can be removed.
7. Before using the computers, microfilm readers and scanners located at the library it is mandatory to disinfect the hands with antiseptic liquid.
8. Following sanitary precautions, users are asked to visit the library exclusively for research or educational purposes related to library collections.
