John Paul II, the Pope of Freedom
John Paul II, the Pope of Freedom
Exhibition, October 12 - November 10, 2009

„Man received the Gift of Freedom from his Maker. It is thanks to freedom that man is in position to shape and gain control over the world, can accomplish great achievements in human endeavour, in this country and worldwide: in science and art, economy and technology, the whole of culture...

Freedom makes man responsible for his acts to the extent of the utmost act of human dignity, namely to love and adoration of God. Freedom, however, has its price. All free people should pose a question to themselves: do we, cherishing the condition of human liberty, retain out dignity?

For freedom does not mean lawlessness. Man is not supposed to do whatever he likes to do or what he is capable of.”

(Vienna, 11.09.1983)

Official opening of the exhibition was on October 12, 2009 r - main lobby of the University Library.

The opening was preceded by a lecture given by Prof. dr. hab. Stanisław Mikołajczak: „John Paul II – initiator of great transformations in Poland and all over the world”.
